There are five sick children illustrated in this film, and together they provide a useful introduction to the sick child, and how illness in children presents - with the similarities and differences from disease in adults. Patient 1 is a young baby with classical whooping cough (pertussis); patient 2 is a baby with a VSD and bronchiolitis; patient 3 is a nine-year old child with an abdominal swelling, due to nephroblastoma; and patients 4 and 5 have severe cerebral palsy, of which Martin Bax is a world authority on assessment and management. 2006
