On this film are demonstrated five patients with different respiratory diseases, who together illustrate many of the respiratory physical signs and how to interpret them. The cases are: consolidation of the left lower lobe due to tuberculosis; acute asthma; long-standing complete atelectatic collapse of the left lung; a large right pleural effusion; and right basal bronchiectasis. The film complements Programme 2 (Examination of the Respiratory System); in this film the sounds are recorded (eg bronchial breathing, whispering pectoriloquoy, and pleural friction rub). 2005
