This programme describes and explains the different layers within the earth. It covers the classification of extrusive and intrusive igneous rocks and how crystal size can indicate mode of formation. The programme illustrates the erosion and transportation of igneous rocks leading to the formation of sedimentary rocks, thus introducing the rock cycle. It also looks at how the shape and size of particles in sedimentary rocks can tell us how they were formed.
