An interactive, problem based educational program

This program was developed to facilitate the teaching and learning of normal child growth and development. It allows students to observe the progressive growth and development of the same child over time, via the use of digitalised video clips of the child performing age-related tasks and behaviours. The program is structured around visits to the family home when the child is 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months old. During these visits the parents raise concerns about their child’s growth or development that students work through, before outlining the most appropriate advice. Child health and family issues such as feeding, crying, immunisation, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), stranger anxiety and postnatal depression are introduced to students during relevant visits.
