A-P View of Pelvis - Antero-posterior radiographs of the pelvis (taken in the supine position) provide a good view of it's bony structure as a whole. The complex 3-D arrangement of the irregularly shaped pelvic bones, the tilted plane of the pelvic inlet as well as individual and gender differences makes interpretation difficult. The sacrum and coccyx (01) are positioned in the midline between the hip bones (02) laterally and the lumbar spine above. On each side, the proximal end of the femur (03) articulates with the hip bone at the acetabulum (where all three parts of the hip bone unite).
