Lungs Excised - Each lung is removed by cutting through it's hilum revealing the costal pleura on the inside of the (posterior) thoracic wall, and diaphragmatic pleura on the right dome of the diaphragm. The pleural cavities are examined, noting the costodiaphragmatic recesses posteriorly, into which the lungs may expand (in the living).
