Proximal Attachments
- Hook of the hamate and the ulnar border of the flexor retinaculum.
Distal Attachments - Ulnar aspect of the base of the proximal
phalanx of the little finger.
Nerve supply - Deep branch of the ulnar nerve (C8, T 1 ).
This muscle may be absent or combined with the abductor digiti minimi.
Surface anatomy
Contributes to the bulk of the hypothenar eminence and is superficial to
the opponens, thus available for palpation.
Actions
Flexion of the MP joint of the little finger and assists with opposition
of the little finger.
